A BIT OF HISTORY
The term "Eat Humble Pie" was coined when the miners in the late 1800's walked out on strike, then had to walk back months later begging for the jobs back.
The original "Cornish pasty" pie crust was not meant to be eaten. It was just for the coal miners to hold their lunch while eating it because of their filthy hands.
